Fall is honestly my favorite time of year. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy summer, but I love fall. The rain and winds and cool-but-not-cold weather; the leaves falling and the need for jackets. Also I’ve gracefully allowed my birthday to grace the season so there’s that.
Book 2 of Broken Souls is out for editing. I’ve a completed cover, and I should get the book back from edits by the end of the month. Barring any massive, grievous assaults with commas that require a hefty rework, it should be available by mid-to-late October. I have an outline for Book 3 of the series, but I’m taking a break to work on a new Epic Fantasy trilogy so that I don’t burn out on one series.
The Road From Here
That series, currently titled in my Scrivener file as “Towers Trilogy”, is currently underway. I have a full outline I like for the first book and some useful-yet-vague notes for the remainder of the series. I know the main beats and will probably noodle on the outlines for books 2 and 3 when I need a breather. Overall I’m pretty happy with the outline and am pretty crazy to get writing on it. I’m hopeful to have it written over the next two months with it in the hands of my writing group by the end of the year.
Stuff I’ve Been Reading
I read a LOT of genre fiction to the absolute surprise of no one. Usually I’m “reading” two at a time, where one is an audiobook for 3ish hours a day and my Kindle for the other. In the last month, I’ve finished all three books (thus far) in the Bobbiverse by Dennis E. Taylor and have moved on to They Thirst by the extraordinary Robert McCammon. I also started my semi-annual re-read of the Dark Tower, and have pushed on through to Wizard and Glass. On a camping trip last month I binged the entirety of The Waste Lands in a single day. July saw me gorge my way through the Magic 2.0 series by Scott Meyer, which was pretty fun and an easy listen for the monotonous car rides.
